Looks Deceive
While in Kenya we took a vacation to the Island of Lamu. It is located a short ferry rife off the coast of Kenya in the Indian Ocean. It is a beautiful small tropical island located two degrees south of the equator. The beaches are beautiful and in easy walking distance of wherever you stayed. The streets are so narrow two people can barely pass on them. The houses were built out of coral limestone and some date back to the 13th century.
If staying on the island was not adventure enough, I found a young man who said he could take us to an island a bit further out on the Indian Ocean. We went and it was an adventure even getting there and back.
Well, while we were visiting the site of the ancient ruins I noticed this small skinny green snake in a tree. It was so beautiful, so for some strange reason I began to reach out my hand to just touch it. It looked so harmless and docile. I had never seen one like that before.
About halfway through my reach God spoke to me in my spirit and said, STOP! Come to find out it was a deadly venomous snake. Thank you, Jesus, for saving me that day. Looks can be deceiving. Ask Eve! It was a deadly mistake. The riches of this world have deceived many with similar results.
“When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.” Genesis 3:6a NIV
