A Heavy Heart
As you know I have been struggling with losing weight. The doctor told me I was obese. To be frank it has been an awful struggle since I first brought the topic up. I have had so many ups and downs over these last months it would be impossible to keep track of them. I ended up adding pounds instead of losing them. Then one day I was carrying a fifty-pound bag of feed. It then dawned on me what the doctor’s advice meant. Everywhere I went I was carrying an extra fifty pounds of weight around.
At times in the ministry, I carry a heavy heart around. I pray people I know will be saved, but they still reject the Gospel. I pray people who are struggling with addictions will make wiser choices, but they continue to make the same bad choices repeatedly. I pray for people who are seriously ill that God would heal them, but they still suffer. You know what I am talking about. Right now, many of you are carrying a heavy heart around for the things that you care deeply about.
The solution to a heavy heart is consuming God’s Word. His Word cheers us up, encourages us, lifts us up, comforts us, and gives us hope to keep trusting. He tells us I am with you. I will never leave you or forsake you. Fear not! Take courage! When experiencing a heavy heart repeat these truths and others repeatedly to your heart.
“When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.” Psalm 94:19 ESV
Amen! Thank you for reminding me. I needed that!
