No Faith in Promises
One of my many failures in raising my children was making a well-intentioned promise to do this or that with them and then forgetting I made the promise. They were disappointed when I didn’t keep my promise. That was on me.
Imagine if I kept every promise I ever made to my children and then they still did not trust me to keep my next promise. That would be on them.
That is what happened between God and the Israelites. God kept every promise He ever made to them. Never once did He fail them. They had zero reasons to not trust Him. Yet, there came a time, actually many times, where they lost faith in His promises. They no longer trusted Him to do the impossible for them. We quickly judge the Israelites for doubting God. They had no reason to doubt Him, but they did.
Am I any better? Do I have faith in the promises of God? I mean, do I trust Him for my salvation. That is easy, of course I do. Do I trust Him to provide for my every need? Do I trust Him by giving at least 10% of my income? We all get that point. We have zero reasons to not trust God to keep EVERY promise He makes to us. Trust and Obey!
“Then they despised the pleasant land, having no faith in his promise. 25 They murmured in their tents, and did not obey the voice of the Lord.” Psalm 106:24-25 ESV
