Looking for Help?
Have you ever found yourself stranded alongside the road. Maybe your car broke down, you had a flat tire or, most embarrassing of all, you ran out of gas? Well, I hate to admit it but over the years I have been in all three situations. I even locked my keys in the car once, on a Saturday, a mile away from the nearest phone and thirty miles from the nearest help. That was not an inexpensive mistake.
The first thing you do when stranded is figure out a way to find help. You think of a family member or friend you can call. You are so relieved when someone picks up the phone, you explained the predicament you are in, and they said they will be right over to help. Through the years I probably have been on the receiving end of such calls, more than on the requesting end. Friends and family can be counted on to be there for each other in time of need.
We are part of God’s family. We can count on God to be there for us, any hour of the day or night, when we need help. He never sleeps. We do not even need a phone to get in touch with Him. He already knows our needs and where we are. We just need to talk with Him and ask for His help. Sometimes He even sends a Good Samaritan to help.
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2 NIV Never forget this!
