Feelings
Probably the most difficult part of my journey is dealing with my “feelings.”
God created us in His image. Therefore, we have feelings. God loves, has mercy, compassion, kindness, joy, grief, and anger. We understand, that because of sin our “feelings” have been damaged. Therefore, we need to learn to control our feelings. Pride, anger, or lust can take us to places God does not want us to go. Nevertheless, feelings are an important part of our spiritual journey.
All people feel everywhere feel guilt, because all people sin. The only way to ever be free of guilt is through accepting the forgiveness of Jesus for our sins. When we sin, we feel godly sorrow for our sins, confess them for what they are and accept God’s forgiveness. Jesus died to free us from the feelings of guilt and shame.
Jesus felt the full range of feelings. The shortest verse in the Bible is one that expresses emotion. Jesus Wept!
David in the Psalms talked to God about what he felt, Jesus talked to the Father about what He felt. Talk to God about what you feel.
“Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” 39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Matthew 26:38-39 NKJV
