Feeling Unappreciated?
We all feel unappreciated or undervalued at times. It could be at work or in a relationship. It makes a person feel lonely or insecure. No one wants their love and actions taken for granted.
We live in a fallen world. Others will take us for granted. We cannot control it if others appreciate us or value us. If we go down that road then we will let others determine our value.
I, like many of you, have struggled with this at various places along my journey. It is what I do with the feeling of being unappreciated that really matters. I can dwell on those feelings which only lead me into questioning my own value. Not a good place to be. Or I can work through it and become stronger further on down the road of my journey.
Our value is not determined by what others think of us. Our value is determined by what God thinks of us and He values us beyond measure. We are a child of God. Therefore, we are guaranteed that He loves us, and does not take us for granted. Our perspective matters when it comes to feeling unappreciated. In Jesus we can find comfort when our souls are troubled by feeling undervalued. Jesus gets it!
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 NIV
