Less is More
Have you ever gone to a restaurant where you can eat all want? After church we met my brother and his wife at a restaurant that had an all you can eat breakfast buffet, that even included prime rib as one of the choices. Naturally I sampled a little of this and a little of that. When I sat down to eat the food was so bad that I left most of what I took uneaten, even the prime rib. I would have been more satisfied with just two eggs over easy, toast, and hashbrowns cooked right. Once again, I learned the truth that you need less of something if the taste is good. More is not always better.
Back in the day I remember buying a gazebo that required lots of assembly. It came with pages of instructions listing all the parts and a detailed description of how everything fits together. It was so confusing. Now when you buy something that needs assembly it doesn’t come with pages on instructions but usually just one large foldout page with lots of pictures. Less is more.
Having less pride, arrogance, self-righteousness, selfishness, and envy means greater peace with God. The less “self” and the more “Jesus” we have the more God’s love and joy will fill our hearts. It is better to not have much and know Jesus than be rich and lost. It is better to have less and be content than much and be dissatisfied.
“Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked;” Psalm 37:16 NIV
