God is My Strength
I was never physically strong growing up. I remember lifting weights for a few weeks and then I would measure my biceps to see if my muscles had grown. They never seemed to get larger.
As a person ages their strength diminishes. The other day I needed to purchase a ¾ inch sheet of treated plywood. When I went to lift it to put it on my trailer it became immovable. I had to lift one side at a time to get it up and into the trailer. Even picking up fifty-pound bags of sheep feed is strenuous.
Temptations come to do, say, and think things that are sinful. A different kind of strength is needed to deal with those types of weaknesses, spiritual strength.
Mental strength is needed to keep from giving up and quitting. How many times have we not had to go there and draw from that reservoir to keep on keeping on.
Emotional strength allows us to bounce back from difficult situations we are bound to face. A friend or family member passes away and we are left with that awful loneliness. Relationships fall apart and the pieces of life need to be put back together.
God gives power to the weak and strength to those who need spiritual, mental, and emotional stamina. His power supply is never interrupted by the storms of life. The power lines to heaven always work. He is our strength! Plug in and light up.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Ephesians 6:10 NIV
