What Do I Want?
If I asked you now, what you want and if I had the power to grant you your wish, how would you answer me? You could only have one wish granted. Think about it for a moment. That is a serious question, that requires a serious answer. As I thought about answering my own question a hundred things popped into my mind. Then I realized I had to narrow those hundred things down to just one. That would be hard as there are so many “wants” to consider before making a final choice.
Then as I thought more, I soon realized there is a difference between wants and needs. If I concluded I wanted a new house for example, there is a difference between what it would take to satisfy my needs and what I might want to satisfy my desires. It’s so easy to confuse the two.
Thinking more, I realized it would be so easy to want something that would benefit me with little thought given about others. A new house might be nice, but only my family could live in it. That would be selfish. Not a wise use of that one choice.
Then a familiar verse from the Bible came rushing into my mind.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Psalm 23:1 NKJV
My choice would be that I want everyone to know the Jesus I know. What more could anyone want, than to know Jesus more and more. He guides us, comforts us, and satisfies us as nothing else can.
