When I first came down with Covid, I didn’t know if I really had it. My daughter said dad, go into the kitchen pantry, find some vinegar, and see if you can smell it. If you cannot smell it, you have Covid. She was right. I then took a Covid test, and it came back positive.
Not only did I lose my sense of smell but also taste. That was the worst. I didn’t miss smelling things as much as I missed not being able to taste things.
So, this Thanksgiving we had family over. The turkey, all the fixings, and side dishes were there on the table on full display. Everything looked so delicious.
After Giving Thanks it was time to put the food to the test. How would everything taste? If I told my wife once I must have told her 15 times that day and since that that turkey was the best turkey she ever made. But I never would have known how good it was unless I was able to taste it.
So, it is with the Lord. Until you have a relationship with Jesus you will never know how good He is, how faithful He is, how kind He is, how patient He is, how forgiving He is, how loving He is, how giving He is, or how understanding He is.
“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” Psalm 34:8 NIV
