We live in a world where our senses are continually stimulated. When we go shopping at the grocery store our sense of smell is heightened. The coffee isle is hard to walk through without smelling all the varieties of coffee.
My sister could not walk down the bread isle without picking up different loaves of bread and gently squeezing them. She would even call me over and ask me to squeeze a special loaf of bread that caught her attention. I never asked her why she had to squeeze so many loaves before finding the right one.
Beautiful women and handsome men are quickly picked out in a crowd. They stand out and are admired for how they look and keep themselves.
As I get older, and my joints begin to wear out, I wake up stiff and sore. I look at a picture of myself 20 years ago and then look in the mirror and I understand why I feel the way I do.
The Word of God has a way of putting life in perspective and giving us hope.
“Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NIV
