Have you ever tried to break a bad habit? I have found out that either adding good or removing bad habits is tough work. It is a journey that I stumble a lot taking. If I stumble too many times I just want to quit and say it is not worth the effort. When I stumble, I tell myself at times, see you will never be able to quit that bad habit, or see you will never be able to be consistent in adding that new, good habit.
The Christian life is a journey. My journey looks different than yours in the details, but the goal is the same, become more like Jesus. To do that, I need a short memory because no matter how many times I fall on my journey and want to quit, God says that quitting the journey is not an option.
God understands my journey. Jesus came in flesh, lived among us, and was tempted in every way I am. He was tempted to give up His journey, short of dying on the cross, but continued to the end. No matter how hard our journey is-Keep on Keeping on! Never Quit!
“No, dear brothers, I am still not all I should be, but I am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God is calling us up to heaven because of what Christ Jesus did for us.” Philippians 3:13-14 TLB
