As I got older my eyesight began to change. First, I needed reading glasses. Then came those bifocals. They were hard to get used to, especially going up and down steps.
Being outside so much of my life and not wearing sunglasses the next diagnosis should not have been a surprise to me. I have age related macular degeneration. Trust me, I do not want to visit the specialist and learn that it has progressed to the point where I will need monthly injections in my eyes. That thought alone makes me wear sunglasses more than I ever have.
With age related macular degeneration, I have a harder time seeing what is right in front of me. Reading fine print now requires quite a bit of magnification.
If I do not pay attention to my spiritual sight, before long, my spiritual eyes will grow weak as well. I will not see what God has put right there in front of me. I will not see His faithfulness, justice, love, power, mercy, kindness, and the list can go on. What I let my eyes focus on matters.
Dear Father, open my eyes so that I may see your hand behind all that is going on around me. As I see the lightning flash and hear the thunderclap may I recognize you have created all things for your glory. Praise be to You!
“Open my eyes, that I may see Wondrous things from Your law.” Psalm 119:18 NKJV
