A Path to Follow
When we first bought the property where we now live there was one path through the woods that I could follow. It was wide enough to take a golf cart down. I wanted to take the golf cart along the western edge of the property but there was no path there, only trees, swamp grass, and brush. But, before I cleared that area, I cleared out another path through the woods that connected to the existing path.
I spent many hours over three summers completing those two paths. The two closest to the house I use regularly. I didn’t use the one on the western edge of the property for several years. The other day a friend came over and we decided to take that path along the western edge of the property. To my horror, we could not even find the path to follow. All those hours of sweating to clear the path, were for nothing. It had grown shut with swamp grass, fallen trees, and brush because of lack of use. It happened so fast.
If we begin to follow the Lord but then forget about Him for a time, it may be hard to get back on the right path. It doesn’t take long for that to happen. Stay faithful to Him. Continue to follow the path of daily devotions and prayer and you will never lose your way. A well-worn path is easy to follow. You won’t get lost in the woods. You will know the way home to Jesus!
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 NIV
