Paths in the Woods
On our property there are three distinct paths. There is a wide path that I cut with the lawn mower through the woods that we use to drive our golf cart on. As we drive down the wide path there are several much narrower paths through the woods that the deer use on their way up to our yard. They use those paths to check if any apples have fallen from the tree during the previous day. Then there is a much narrower path that is extremely well worn. It leads from the woods across our lawn. It is used so frequently and heavily that the lawn is worn down. The wide path for the lawn mower wonders around through the trees. The deer trails are more direct to the apple tree but still have twists and turns. The narrow path, made by raccoons, is straight as an arrow and leads directly to our deck. Five to fifteen take that path on a very regular basis. They come every night and put their cute faces up against our patio door to announce they are waiting.
The Bible talks a lot about paths, wide paths and narrow paths. There is the path of the righteous and the path that the wise follow. There is the path of life and ancient paths that the giants of the faith have walked for years. There is the path of the Lord, a serving and sacrificial path. Choose the path you go down wisely. It matters!
