Knowing
There are different ways to know things. I can know things only in my mind and never have experienced them. I know I am going to die but I have never experienced it. I know I am going to go to heaven when I die, but I have never experienced heaven either. My knowledge is incomplete about what that experience will be like. I want to know more about what heaven will be like but really know so little.
I want to know God. There is much I know about God in my mind. I know He is holy, infinite, sovereign, all knowing, loving, and unchangeable to name but a few of the characteristics of God. I have spent hours throughout my life attempting to know God more fully. If God knows all things that means He knows and sees the end from the beginning. For God, all that is yet to happen has already happened. Think about that for a moment.
But I know God more than in my mind. I know Him experientially. In moments of desperation, I have called out to God and He has heard me. God save me! God have mercy on me for I have sinned.
I experience the grace of God every day. I do not deserve anything that I have. It goes far beyond health and wealth. Oh, I am not real healthy. I am not wealthy by the world’s standards. But I am healthier and wealthier than many in this world. By God’s grace I can share His Love with the world so more may get to know and experience who God is. That’s my prayer and purpose. To know God and to make Him known.
“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.” Ephesians 1:17 NIV
