Worry and Anxiety
These two are often seen as the same but they are very different. After the car sits out all night in sub-zero temperatures, we may worry that it will not start in the morning. Once it starts, all our worries are over.
Anxiety is vague and it is difficult to associate it with something specific that is going on in the moment. We may know we are experiencing anxiety through a dry mouth, sweaty palms, or a racing heart.
Those of us who have experienced or are experiencing anxiety understand what Proverbs 12:25 is saying, “Anxiety weighs down the heart,” NIV
I am preaching a series of messages on God’s Grace and one thing that I am learning is that none of us have enough power within ourselves to just stop being anxious or for that matter to stop being selfish, angry, or unforgiving. Change is not something we do to ourselves; it is something God does to us and for us. God is the Agent of change, not man! The ability to bring change begins with understanding that. The ability to understand that is a function of God’s Grace! Most people do not get that one basic fact, and it is a fact. God is the Agent of change, not man.
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20 NIV
