Day 40
Read: Exodus 25:1 -28:43
Fun Coincidence – Yesterday’s reading concluded with Moses staying on the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights…and here we are 40 days into our chronological Bible reading! WOW!
Today’s reading highlights God’s desire for intimate, relational worship, guided by meticulous instructions that emphasize holiness and foreshadow the ultimate priesthood of Jesus. What does that mean exactly? Well, He wanted a sanctuary where He can dwell among His people and He wanted the materials to come from those that WANTED to contribute.
God instructed Moses to accept offerings only from those whose hearts prompted them to give. God does not NEED our resources, but He DESIRES our WILLING participation in his work. True worship begins with a generous, cheerful heart that trusts God to provide, rather than holding tightly to worldly treasures.
Do I give with a voluntary heart?
The detailed blueprints for the Ark of the Covenant, the Table of Presence, the Golden Lampstand, and the Tabernacle curtains, show that God cares about the specific and intimate details of our lives. Following His blueprint is not about legalism, but about honoring His holiness in how we live and worship.
Do I trust God’s guidance in my life?
The garments for the priests and the detailed instructions for their service reveal that God is holy and requires consecrated mediators. These instructions highlight the need for atonement and foreshadow Jesus as our perfect High Priest, who bridges the gap between a holy God and His people.
Is my relationship with God evident in all that I do?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the privilege of being part of Your kingdom work. Move my heart to give generously and willingly, not out of obligation, but out of love. Help me to follow Your blueprint for my life, that my daily actions will reflect Your holiness and desire to dwell among us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
