Day 24
Read: Job 19:1 – 21:34
Reflect:
Job continues to endure extreme isolation and accusatory “comforters,” yet declares “I know that my redeemer lives,” (Job 19:25). He challenges the rigid theology of his friends by observing that the wicked often prosper, rather than facing immediate punishment. Satan’s intent was to get Job to question the wisdom of trusting God. However, Job mocked the ungodly who question the Almighty.
When you feel misunderstood, judged by others, or abandoned in your struggles, do you focus on accusations (like Job’s friends) or on the certainty that your Redeemer lives and will ultimately make all things right?
Practice:
- Show empathy rather than assuming someone’s suffering is caused by specific sin.
- Trust God’s sovereignty over quick, simplistic judgments of why bad things happen.
