Day 47
Read: Numbers 8:1 – 9:14 and then read Leviticus 1:1 – 3:17
God demands our best (unblemished sacrifices) and provides cleansing for his workers, emphasizing that true worship is not just a ritual, but a heartfelt, obedient offering (a “pleasing aroma”) to a holy God. God desires to dwell among His people, but He is holy.
In today’s reading from Numbers, the focus is on setting apart the Levites for service. As a reminder, Levites are those who were descendants of Levi (the third son of Jacob). They were washed, shaved, and presented as a “wave offering,” symbolizing that they belonged entirely to God. Like the Levites, we as believers are called to be “set apart” from the world, cleansed, and dedicated to His purpose.
Are you living as “set apart” for God’s service, or are you blending into the surrounding culture?
In Leviticus the “burnt offering” was a voluntary offering, requiring a male without blemish. This was not about bargaining, but about giving God our very best – our wholehearted commitment, entirely consumed on the altar.
When you give your time, talents, or resources, are they “unblemished” – given with excellence and faith, or just leftovers?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the privilege of serving You. Cleanse me, as You cleansed the Levites, that I may be a useful instrument in Your hands. Help me to offer my life as a living sacrifice, not holding anything back, so that my life is a pleasing aroma to You. Amen.
