Provisions
Have you ever gone camping with your family for a week, or even a weekend. There was always something special about sleeping next to some remote lake in a tent as a family. You hear the sounds of nature that you never get to hear otherwise. Your kids wake you up, and ask you what all those scary sounds are that they never get to hear in the city. There is the eerie sound of a loon calling on the lake. Racoons make noises rummaging through the garbage and getting in snarling fights over who gets the best garbage. Great horned owls hoot off in the distance. Coyotes bark and howl.
However, when a family goes camping in a tent there is a lot of preparation that needs to go into it, for the experience to be pleasurable. There are the provisions you need to bring. Camping gear, food, and water are some of the basics. One of the worst feelings is when you arrive at your camp site in the evening and you discover you are missing something as important as matches, or tent stakes, or a hammer. Over the years I have managed to leave a few important items behind, especially if we left in a hurry.
God provides us with exactly what we need, as we face each new day. We have the Holy Spirit. He comforts us should something painful arise. He gives us hope when we get discouraged. He gives us peace when things seem to get out of hand. He gives a heart of forgiveness to let go when someone offends us. He makes us feel accepted by God when the world rejects us. We have a Provider and His name is Jehovah Jireh! Look it up.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 NIV
