Polished Stones
Pastor Paul has a wonderful hobby that I wasn’t aware of until this past year when I spent time with Monika and Pastor Paul at their home. As I looked inside a large glass-top table, there were many polished stones. I had never seen anything so beautiful! In Pastor Paul’s travels, he has collected stones in their raw form. He has a stone tumbling machine. He chooses stones about the same size and hardness. Following directions, the stones tumble for at least 4 long phases. What a transformation!!
As I marvel at the beauty of the polished stones, I think of how God has shaped me. Before I accepted Christ, I was like an unpolished stone. My life at times has felt overwhelming, and I might question God’s shaping process in my life. God’s polishing tool brings me pain at times. Physical pain, illness, disease, and suffering are all tools of God in shaping me into His image. I need to trust God in these times; these challenges are an opportunity for growth. As God shapes me, he invites me to put my faith in Him. He knows what is best for me.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17
