If I Had Wings
When I was much younger, I often dreamt that I could fly around the house like a bird. Not all my dreams were so happy, but I looked forward to having those dreams. If I woke up in the middle of one of those, I wanted to fall back asleep as fast as possible so I could finish my adventure of flight.
As I reflect on those vivid dreams I never “flew” out of my home. Have you ever dreamt that you could fly? On my first airplane flight I flew where I never dreamt, I would ever fly, through and above the clouds.
King Davis was once a shepherd. While tending his sheep he observed the freedom of movement birds had because they could fly. They could use their wings to escape a predator, or find a safe place to escape a storm.
King David wished that he could fly. He imagined the freedom that would be his, if had wings and could fly as a bird. He could quickly escape from the presence of his enemies or find a peaceful place to spend the night.
“I said, “Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest. 7 I would flee far away and stay in the desert;” Psalms 55:6-7
We cannot fly away from our problems any more than David could, but we can give our burdens to the Lord and let Him “fly” them away. Start today by giving your burdens to God! You will feel as free as a bird.
“casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
