God’s Comfort and Peace
When I was a child there were times when I fell or injured myself. I would run home to my mom, and she would hug me and dry my tears. She would fix my wounds. But what was the most comforting was the hug from my mom.
One of my childhood hymns I remember singing was “Leaning On the Everlasting Arms”. It was written in 1887 by Hoffman and Stowalter. I love the assurance in the last verse, “ What have I to dread, what have I to fear, Leaning on the everlasting arms? I have blessed peace with my Lord so near, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms”. I have summed up the hymn by writing a short poem:
God’s Comfort and Peace
As I travel through life’s trials,
God’s everlasting arms embrace me, bringing me smiles.
I feel God’s comfort and peace,
Knowing His presence will never cease.
“The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” Deuteronomy 33:27
