Listen to the Wind
I cannot see the air. I only know of its presence when I hear it in the form of wind. From young on I learned wind has different sounds. I remember walking in the woods as a child and listening to the wind gently blow through the trees on a sunny spring day. You know the sound. It is such a peaceful sound as the leaves of the Aspen Trees flutter in the breeze.
I always knew to leave the woods when the wind started to blow hard, and the trees began to bend in the wind. That sound meant the woods were no longer a safe place to be.
In September 2004 I was in Florida when Hurricane Francis struck. The wind howled for hours outside the building we were in. I had never heard wind like that before. Then in 2019 as I was in my house, I heard those same hurricane force wind sounds. While not for the same length of time, the sounds were the same as those of Hurricane Francis. When I later went outside, broken trees littered my woods.
The Bible says the Holy Spirit is much like the wind. You cannot see the Holy Spirit, but one can sure tell when the Holy Spirit is present.
“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” John 3:8 NIV
