Dead Cedar Trees
When we bought the property, we built our house on, the prior owner had blocked up a seasonal creek that emptied a cedar swamp. Cedar trees can stand to have their roots in very wet conditions, but the water cannot be stagnant, or they will die. Well, a beautiful cedar swamp turned into a bunch of dead cedar trees. That is how it was when we bought the property.
It bothered me to see all those nice cedar logs just rot away. So, in the winter when the ground was frozen, I cut the larger dead cedars down and had them cut into boards. I made a beautiful set of cedar bunk beds out of some of them. A gave a bunch of the boards to a friend of mine and he had them made into tongue and groove boards and finished his basement with them. I even used some to be part of a handmade cedar strip canoe.
The cedar trees were dead but now they have found new life. We were dead in our sins, but when we placed our faith in Jesus, we became His new creations. Each of us, as His children, are like cedar boards in His hands. Remember, He was a wood worker by trade. He turns us into something He can use to reflect His glory for eternity. Let the beauty shine through.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV
Nice I like this.
