It’s A Miracle
Have you ever used those words. The word “miracle” gets used quite often. If you watch sports, you will hear the broadcasters describe something as miraculous, like that catch was miraculous. I had polio and recovered. I have described that recovery as miraculous. My mother was very determined that I would walk normally again and would spend hours doing therapy with me. Miraculous in that sense means something unusual or out of the ordinary. The catch was not an ordinary catch and my recovery from polio was not an ordinary recovery. Many died from polio, spent years in iron lungs, or were confined to wheelchairs.
However, for something to truly be a “miracle” in the Biblical sense, calls for instantaneous, direct, and divine intervention in the affairs of man. The healing miracles performed by Jesus in the Gospels are just that, instantaneous, direct, and divine. The feeding of the 5,000 and the 4,000 are further examples of genuine miracles. Can you imagine what those who were healed and those who witnessed the healings had to say! They could not keep their mouths shut. They had to tell everyone, just like we would have done if we were living in Jerusalem at the time.
I want us to focus on one final miracle, our salvation. One minute we were lost and then the next second we were saved, by a direct, divine, and instantaneous act of God. That is a miracle. Only God can do that. You are a “miracle” child! Without Jesus we have nothing. With Him we have everything!
“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.” Ephesians 2:4-5 NIV
