Day 45
Read: Exodus 39:32 – 40:38 and then Numbers 9:15-23
In today’s reading, Israel completes the Tabernacle “as the Lord commanded.” As a result, God’s glory filled the tent and directed their journeys through a cloud by day and fire by night.
The phrase “as the Lord commanded,” appears multiple times, emphasizing that true worship involves doing things God’s way, not our own. The people meticulously followed instructions, and because they did, the glory of God filled the tabernacle. Obedience brings God’s presence into our everyday lives.
Are we following God’s directions for our lives, or just doing what seems good to us?
God’s presence was visible, a constant reminder of His protection and companionship. He was not a distant God but one who moved with them. Sometimes they stayed for days, sometimes for months. They had to wait for the cloud to move. This requires patience, faith, and trust that God knows the best time to move forward and the best time to rest. Trusting God means waiting for His timing even when it feels like we are staying in one place for too long.
Do we rush ahead of God when things are quiet, or do we move only when He moves?
The Book of Exodus ends with a forward emphasis in the description of journeying with the guidance of the Lord. The central goal of the exodus had been achieved.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your presence in my life. Help me to be obedient to Your Word, to follow Your leading, and to trust Your timing for every step, just as the Israelites did in the wilderness. Let Your glory shine through my life. Amen.
