Walking in the Spirit
That is my goal as I begin every day. If I walk in the Spirit, I will not give in to my sinful desires. So that means there is a daily battle going on inside of me. We all know that battle so well.
Some days are better than others. It is a process and that is what I hang my hat on. Looking back on my life, how far have I walked? Another way of looking at that is, how different am I today than say, three years ago or one year ago?
Walking implies I am going from one place to another. That is what the Christian “walk” is all about. Going from one level of joy, peace, patience, kindness, and love to another. I need to constantly remind myself that just as it takes time to walk one mile, it takes time to grow in peace, love, joy etc. I wish perfection in these areas happened the moment I placed my faith in Jesus, but such is not the case, as I know all too well.
As each of us “walk” in the Spirit let us not grow impatient with our progress and give up. Giving up and quitting is the solution one voice wants me to follow whenever I fail.
Jesus says to confess, repent, and continue “walking” until we reach heaven. That is what Walking in the Spirit looks like.
