Day 35
Read: Exodus 10:1 – 12:51
Today’s reading showcases God’s ultimate authority over darkness, pride, and death through the final plagues and the institution of Passover. God initiates a new beginning of freedom, by demanding total obedience via the lamb’s blood to spare Israel from the judgement He would bring upon Egypt.
There is a striking contrast between the darkness of Egypt and the light of God’s presence among His people. I personally appreciate that God demonstrated He has power over the Egyptian god, Ra (sun). Yet, Pharaoh still wanted to try to undermine God by telling the Israelites they could leave but would have to go without their livestock.
Pharaoh’s hardened heart and ultimate defeat teaches us that pride cannot stand against God. The Passover, however, is a message of grace. Israel was not spared because they were holier, but because of their OBEDIENCE, the blood of the lamb.
This points directly to Jesus, our Passover Lamb, whose sacrifice covers us, allowing God’s judgment to pass over us and bring us into a new, free life!
Trust in the blood. Are you relying on your own righteousness , or resting in the protection of Jesus?
Obey. Just as Moses refused to leave a single hoof behind, God desires our whole lives… not just parts… to be dedicated to Him, and Him alone.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being my protector and redeemer. Help me to live with a humble, obedient heart, always remembering the incredible price paid for my freedom. May my life be a celebration of Your faithfulness. Amen.
